On September 1st, Hengmei Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. officially completed the acquisition and delivery of the polarizer business from Samsung SDI through its subsidiary Hengxin Optoelectronics. Hefei Industrial Investment Group stated that this marks Hengmei Optoelectronics as the world's largest polarizer manufacturer by production capacity. This acquisition covers all polarizer-related assets of Samsung SDI and is a key step in Hengmei Optoelectronics' global strategic layout.

In September last year, Noyan Capital, Hengmei Optoelectronics, and Samsung SDI reached an agreement on the acquisition of polarizer assets and completed the signing. The transaction amount was approximately 1,121 billion Korean won (equivalent to nearly 6 billion RMB at the exchange rate at that time). The scope of the transaction includes polarizer production lines, business, personnel, and over 1,000 intellectual property rights in South Korea and China. Samsung SDI, established in 1970, is a world-leading manufacturer of batteries and electronic materials, redefining the global ecosystem of automotive batteries, energy storage systems, and IT devices.

It is reported that with the rapid rise of China's panel industry, Korean companies have gradually withdrawn from the polarizer market. Between 2020 and 2023, LG Chem successively sold its polarizer and upstream raw material businesses; at the beginning of 2024, Samsung SDI also initiated the sale process of its polarizer business. After multiple rounds of negotiations, Hengmei Optoelectronics successfully won the asset and completed the full delivery in September this year.
