Arm and NVIDIA Join Forces to Advance Custom Chip Integration

On November 17, 2025, Arm announced that its Neoverse CPUs, built on the Arm architecture, will be able to achieve highly efficient integration with AI accelerators through NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion technology. This move aims to provide customers—particularly hyperscalers and cloud service providers—who prefer customized solutions—with more flexible and powerful AI infrastructure options.
NVIDIA's central position in the AI industry continues to strengthen, and its latest collaboration with Arm marks another step in expanding the NVLink ecosystem. NVIDIA has announced that it will open up its NVLink platform, enabling seamless integration with a variety of custom-designed chips—including CPUs based on the Arm architecture—while no longer requiring customers to exclusively use its own CPUs.
Currently, NVIDIA has launched an AI product named "Grace Blackwell," which combines multiple GPUs with an Arm-based CPU to further enhance the computational power of AI servers. Additionally, tech giants such as Microsoft, Amazon (AWS), and Google are also actively developing or deploying Arm-based CPUs in their cloud services, aiming to strengthen hardware control and reduce operational costs.
Arm doesn’t directly produce CPUs itself—it licenses its Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) technology and sells Neoverse CPU core design solutions, helping partners quickly develop chips based on the Arm architecture. Arm notes that these customized Neoverse chips will feature a new protocol, enabling seamless data transfer between CPUs and GPUs and significantly boosting overall system performance.
In AI infrastructure, the accelerator chips for generative AI are predominantly NVIDIA GPUs, while CPUs remain one of the most critical components in servers. In an AI server, up to 8 GPUs can be paired with a single CPU to maximize computational efficiency.
