According to Xinhua Daily, the silicon photonics platform of Suzhou Xingyao Photonics Technology Co., Ltd. broke ground in Suzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone on March 24, with commissioning expected by the end of this year.
This is the nation’s first 8-inch production line dedicated to silicon photonics chips. The Xingyue Photonics Silicon Photonics Platform project addresses this critical pain point by investing a total of RMB 1.2 billion in Phase I to establish an 8-inch production line based on the 90-nanometer process node, thereby meeting market demand for 1.6T and 3.2T silicon photonic modules and fostering an independent, controllable ecosystem for the manufacturing of silicon-based optoelectronic integrated chips.
Xingyao Photonics was co-founded by industry leaders including Changguang Huaxin, Hengtong Optic-Electronics, and Donghui Optics, with the active participation of the Suzhou Municipal Government and the Suzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The company focuses on optoelectronic integrated micro- and nano-manufacturing services, establishing a collaborative innovation platform for domestic enterprises in laser technology, silicon photonics chips, and electronic chips, and providing comprehensive support across cutting-edge fields and markets such as optical communications, optical interconnects, optical sensing, optical display, and optical computing.
