On Wednesday, May 20, NVIDIA announced another record-breaking quarterly performance. Amid growing market concerns about an AI bubble, the company delivered exceptionally strong financial results, further bolstering investor confidence in the long-term prospects of the artificial intelligence sector.
Specifically, for the first fiscal quarter of 2027 ending April 26, NVIDIA reported revenue of $81.6 billion, up 85% year over year, surpassing the company’s own prior guidance. As NVIDIA’s most critical revenue driver, its data center business delivered particularly strong results, posting a robust 92% year-over-year increase to $75.2 billion, further underscoring the sustained and robust global demand for AI chips.
Looking at revenue performance across different markets, clear disparities are evident. In mainland China, including Hong Kong, NVIDIA’s revenue for the quarter declined sharply year over year, falling by 53%. Meanwhile, sales in the U.S. market surged, nearly tripling compared with the same period last year to reach $63.8 billion. Additionally, revenue in Taiwan posted solid growth, rising 57% year over year to $12 billion.
For the upcoming quarter from May to July, NVIDIA expects its total revenue to reach $9.1 billion, with a plus-or-minus 2% variance. Notably, however, the company’s guidance still excludes any revenue from data centers in China.
